New year, new you! Personal Top 1s at Achievers

We all know what defines a SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) goal.  We apply this methodology to business goals, but for some reason when we hear ‘personal goals’, logic goes out the window.  If any of your personal goals or New Year’s Resolutions included…

  • Win the lottery
  • Get married and have two children this year
  • Start a goat farm
  • Have an office of unlimited ice sculptures (one melts, another one in)

…you may need to re-evaluate.

Achievers has a unique way of supporting our employees’ personal growth.  The Personal Top 1 Program allows employees to choose any goal they wish to accomplish within one year.  A Personal Top 1 Team hosts individual and group support meetings throughout the year to hold Achievers accountable to their goals.  Employees will receive $250 upon completion to pay for any expenses incurred to complete their goal.  As people worldwide embark on a new year of achieving goals, here are some dos and don’ts to keep in mind along the journey.

  • Do set a challenging goal that you think you can accomplish.
Don’t set a random goal that you don’t think you have any chance in achieving.
  • Do tell people about your goal so you feel more invested in its completion.
Don’t keep the goal a secret … and then forget what it is.
  • Do choose a goal that will better you personally, professionally and/ or spiritually.
Don’t decide to work towards a goal that has no purpose (ie: inventing a 6th sense).
  • Do create a roadmap to understand the trajectory for reaching your goal.
Don’t let speed-bumps slow you down (contrary to the rules of the road).
  • Do recognize and reward yourself for your accomplishments along the way.
Don’t give up!  In the words of the wise Mr. Wilder, “Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride
Nobody’s gonna slow me down.  Oh-no, I got to keep on movin’.”
