Achievers Class of 2013 Survey Results Reveal Dramatic Increase in Social Job-Seeking for College Graduates

TORONTO - June 19, 2013

Toronto and San Francisco – [Achievers](/), the leader in [employee recognition](www.achievers.com/solutions/employee-recognition) and rewards software, and [ConnectEDU](http://connectedu.com/) today announced the results of a comprehensive “Class of 2013” survey, revealing what recent graduates expect of the workplace, and what companies in search of new talent should expect from them. The fourth annual “Class of…” survey polled more than 10,000 graduating students across the U.S. Most notably, the insights reveal a 29 percent rise in the use of LinkedIn as a job-seeking channel from 2012 – marking an 800 percent increase in the use of the social platform in the past four years.

Additionally, the results demonstrate another year of exceedingly optimistic expectations on the part of Millennials – 20 percent of respondents anticipate being with their first company for ten years or more, while nearly 18 percent expect to find a job within a month of beginning the job search. These results have implications not just for potential employers’ recruiting strategies, but also for on-boarding and retention practices.

The report outlines specific actions potential employers can take in order to better attract and retain top talent from this year’s graduating class, including social recruiting strategies, on-boarding solutions for acclimating and motivating new hires, and recognition programs to engage the new talent pool, 80 percent of which expect immediate feedback from their leaders.
