Singapore: Recognition is lagging — and so is retention

A State of Recognition mini report

Culture and Consistent Recognition

In Singapore, recognition is falling behind — and employees are taking notice. Despite strong work ethic and high expectations, too few workers feel genuinely appreciated. Just 24% say they feel meaningfully recognized, and only 11% report being regularly acknowledged by their manager. Without consistent feedback, even high performers begin to question whether their efforts matter.

Purpose and productivity are faltering, with fewer than one in four employees saying they’re operating at their best. Career support is minimal, and 69% say their company doesn’t provide proper development opportunities. In a culture that values precision and performance, the absence of recognition is more than a missed opportunity — it’s a silent signal that drives disengagement.

The impact is clear: 73% of employees in Singapore are currently job hunting. That level of churn is hard to ignore. But it’s also preventable.

This report explores what’s behind the recognition gap in Singapore and how it’s affecting engagement, clarity, and culture. With fresh data, it’s designed to help leaders reset their recognition strategies, improve retention, and turn overlooked moments into lasting impact.
