Culture and Consistent Recognition
When Businessolver set out to make Employee Appreciation Week more meaningful, it did not need a bigger box of company swag. It needed a better way to give employees something they would genuinely value.
With Achievers Gifting, Businessolver replaced a one-size-fits-all approach with an experience built around choice. Employees across the United States, India, and the Philippines could select from company-branded merchandise, gift cards, and locally relevant marketplace rewards. The result was approximately 90% participation, more than 2,300 redemptions, a more inclusive global experience, and far less administration for the HR team.
The goal: Make appreciation feel meaningful everywhere
Employee Appreciation Week has long been an important part of Businessolver’s culture. The company dedicates a full week to recognizing employees through executive messages, manager-led recognition, contests, company-wide activities, additional time off, and recognition through Achievers. Gifting has traditionally played an important role, too, with employees receiving items such as apparel, mugs, and desk accessories.
But as Businessolver’s workforce expanded globally, the company wanted to create an appreciation experience that felt equitable and personal, regardless of where an employee worked. Its goal was simple: Give every employee access to the same meaningful moment while making the experience flexible enough to reflect individual preferences.
The challenge: One gift could not fit a global workforce
Historically, Businessolver selected one company gift and distributed it to everyone. The gesture was appreciated, but employees did not always want or need the same thing. A branded t-shirt might be perfect for one person and destined for the back of another person’s closet.
The experience also differed by region. Before global gifting was available, employees in the United States could redeem Achievers Tokens for branded merchandise, while employees in India received points instead. Businessolver wanted employees across countries to participate in a common experience without overlooking differences in local markets, purchasing power, or reward availability.
Behind the scenes, the traditional approach created another challenge. The HR team had to coordinate gift selection, orders, shipping, inventory, and distribution. Creating a thoughtful appreciation moment required a great deal of not-so-thoughtful administrative work.
The solution: Put employees in charge of the gift
When Achievers expanded its gifting capabilities with international fulfillment and a broader rewards catalog, Businessolver redesigned its Employee Appreciation Week program. For the first time, employees in the United States, India, and the Philippines could take part in the same gifting experience.
The HR team curated a selection that included:
- Businessolver-branded merchandise through Achievers Branded Swag
- Gift cards and non-branded items from the Achievers Marketplace
- Country-specific options tailored to local markets and employee preferences
Instead of deciding what every employee should receive, Businessolver let each person choose a reward that suited their interests and needs. Employees who loved company swag could still get it. Everyone else could choose something different — no awkward enthusiasm for another mug required.
Businessolver also worked closely with Achievers to configure reward values for each region. The process required careful calculations to account for local purchasing power, reward structures, and catalog availability. When early setup challenges arose, Achievers support and customer success teams helped resolve them and get the program running quickly.
The results: Strong participation, smarter spending, and less administration
Employees embraced the power of choice
Employee choice created unexpected budget value
HR got time back
Achievers handled the ordering and fulfillment process, removing the need for Businessolver’s HR team to manage inventory, individual preferences, shipping, and distribution. The team could focus on creating a memorable Employee Appreciation Week rather than tracking packages and sorting merchandise.
Businessolver also gained greater budget control because unredeemed gifts remained unused rather than being purchased and automatically shipped, including in situations where an employee had left the organization.
What’s next: A scalable approach to global appreciation
Following the success of the program, Businessolver sees gifting as a long-term way to celebrate employees across its global workforce. By combining employee choice, locally relevant rewards, international accessibility, and simplified administration, the company turned a traditional annual gift into a more personal and inclusive appreciation experience.
“Everybody got the same thing. It was great, but when Achievers gave us the option to let people choose their gift, it made it more meaningful and we didn’t have to coordinate the ordering ourselves.”

“People appreciated it more. Some people liked the things that were sent in the past and there are others that I’m sure didn’t because it wasn’t useful to them. This was more meaningful. They could pick out something that they wanted and they knew that they would enjoy and use.”

“The intent wasn’t to use gifting to save money on the budget. Some people just happened to choose an item that was valued a little lower because it was something they wanted.”

“The administration is so much easier. We didn’t have to coordinate the orders or shipping. It’s really hands off for us.”

“We absolutely would do it again. It was easy and employees appreciated it. I don't see why we would do anything different.”
